On the Importance of Clear and Concise Communication.....

"Holidaychosis"--when your colleague wanders aimlessly around a demolished house muttering, "WE should really do something about this..." Always clarify the "WE" with a clear and concise statement of work, particularly if the problem statement is overly vague. Inferred or assumed responsibility can cause numerous problems up to and including demotion, loss of privileges and "gulp" termination.

For example, even the boss agreed that there was far too much garbage for the receptacle. However, attempting to single-handedly resolve the problem by sorting and consuming the garbage was perceived as overly bold and reckless--ultimately resulting in disciplinary action.
