Maddy Klotz

Research Associate

Madeline Klotz is a Research Associate at Research to Practice Consulting (R2P), where she applies her expertise in data analysis, program evaluation, and policy research to support initiatives that promote well-being and equity for children, families, and communities. Madeline is also a doctoral candidate in Human Development and Family Studies at Michigan State University, with a concentration in Child Development. Her research focuses on how individual factors (like emotion regulation) and positive relationships buffer experiences of adversity and foster empathy and prosocial behavior.

Madeline has extensive experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and working across departments and organizations to meet the needs of diverse stakeholders, including policymakers, educators, and practitioners. Before joining R2P, Madeline worked at the Yale Child Study Center and in multiple research labs at Michigan State University. In these roles, she led large-scale studies—including national surveys and randomized controlled trials—designed to inform early childhood education, health, and workforce policies. Madeline is skilled in managing all stages of the research process, from survey design and data collection to data management and advanced statistical analyses using methods such as multilevel modeling and structural equation modeling. She is passionate about translating data into accessible, actionable insights that drive meaningful change.

Outside of work, Madeline enjoys gardening, roasting her own coffee, spending time with loved ones, and finding joy in Michigan’s four seasons.
