Implementation Coordinator
Shayla is an Implementation Coordinator at Research to Practice Consulting (R2P), where she supports cross-sector initiatives through collaboration, implementation support, and continuous improvement efforts. With a strong foundation in education leadership, she brings expertise in program implementation, instructional and leadership coaching, and systems-level thinking to support organizations, teams, and communities in moving from vision to execution.
​She brings 10 years of experience in early childhood education, including over five years at the Marygrove Early Education Center in Detroit, where she played a key role in the pilot, implementation, and expansion of the Great First Eight (GF8) curriculum across infant, toddler, and Pre-K classrooms. As both a teacher and curriculum coach, Shayla supported GF8 from its earliest stages through sustained implementation, ensuring alignment with developmentally appropriate practices and high-quality instruction.

Shayla has extensive experience coaching educators and leaders using research-based frameworks, including CLASS, and leveraging both qualitative and quantitative data to drive continuous improvement. Her work focuses on strengthening instructional and organizational practices, building leadership capacity, and advancing equitable outcomes for children, families, and communities.

She holds a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education Leadership from the University of Arizona Global Campus, a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Leadership from Rasmussen University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Michigan State University. Shayla is deeply committed to equity, inclusion, and creating systems that support meaningful and lasting impact.

Outside of her professional work, Shayla enjoys spending time with her family, traveling with her husband and children, supporting creative projects in children’s media and arts education, writing poetry, drawing, and building LEGO sets.
